Christmas joy to one and all
I love Christmas at the best of times… and this is the best of times!
We put our tree up on Wednesday.
Luke and Harry came home for the night – and built a sturdy stand –
I made mince pies…
and mulled wine…
(and carrot soup rather bizarrely – had a lot of carrots and thought it would balance all the sugar and alcohol…no takers, not so surprising I guess).
We whacked on the Glee Christmas Album, and everyone was in such a festive mood. We decorated the tree; we danced; we sang…
Beth filmed everything for her wonderful Christmas video… I couldn’t have asked for more!
It’s been quite a year – Luke got his Baccalaureate, his driving licence, and set off for Uni; Harry’s moved up to Lycée (and spends the week away boarding)… the time we spend all together is now more precious than ever.
Luke and Harry each have beautiful girlfriends; Karine and Lena – and they are like the big sisters Beth has never had. This is a harmonious time… and let’s face it, it’s not often everyone in the house has love and peace at the same time… especially at Christmas!
So now the holidays have begun – our little town is covered in winter-wonderland snow, and our plans are simple and mellow. Family time – cooking, eating, singing, playing, relaxing, dancing and loving.
I even still have a ‘believer’ in the house (I know this will be the last year of a mince-pie and a sherry, and a carrot for Rudolph, and I intend to savour every moment of it).
Hope your Christmas is everything you want it to be, and that 2011 is full of good things; new and exciting challenges to overcome; adventure and excitement; tranquility and peace… in just the right quantities!
Oh and let’s make The Christmas Sandwich this year’s No.1!
